The Snead helmet was made in Jersey City, New Jersey USA and made of cast iron and weighing in at 62  and 56 pounds and required no extra weights for diving. These helmets were crafted between the 1900's to the 1940's. Four models were designed, one being cast in brass with a smaller face plate. It was distributed by E.J. The Snead type 4 was the only model that had a none casted screwed on brass distributors identification plate seen here.

The Snead type 4 shallow water diving helmet was also casted in brass not iron like it’s earlier models and weighed in at uncomfortable 71 pounds.

The Willis hand operated air pump was used to supply air for the Snead shallow water helmet and a brass distributors plate was attached to the pump.
